Blair & Nate met in 2005 when they were in 7th grade. Six years later, after becoming friends in their senior year of high school, they had their first date to Lincoln Park Zoo. By September 2018, they married with a modern, simple & fun celebration.
We had planned for the first look and pre-ceremony pics to be taken on the roof of the The Ivy Hotel. That morning, however, the sky opened & the rain came pouring down. Eventually, the rain stopped, but the roof was saturated and there were still several puddles, making the roof unusable.
Just as we were making plans for an indoor first-look shoot, the sun came out & the temperature rose. It was as if God heard the disappointment in our hearts & immediately moved on our behalf. The end result…a nearly dry roof and memorable pre-ceremony pics. Take a look…
The ceremony was such a special moment for these two love birds. Of course, Dad had a to offer a few final words before giving his daughter away. LOL
The blush and ivory florals from Flowers for Dreams and gold details of the reception were striking, especially when poised against the navy linens that were added to the reception space by Jewell Events Catering.

Oh…I forgot to tell you…after the first look pics on the roof, we headed to the lobby of the hotel to take the 2 minute walk over to the ceremony venue.
On our way down, the elevator stopped!! Apparently the 12 of us exceeded the weight capacity. 😱
So here we are – the wedding planner, the hair stylist, & 6 of the groomsmen (along with 4 other hotel guests) STUCK IN THE ELEVATOR!! Fortunately it only took about 10 minutes for us to get free….but it sure made for good lobby laughter when we finally got there!!
